A Word of encouragement from God came forth at church one day, and I will try to summarize it in our blog this week. First, we are reminded that God is the Bright and Morning Star, the Great I Am, our Redeemer, Healer, and Savior, but who are we? We are the gatekeepers. We control the gate and determine what goes in and out of it. We hold the keys to His Kingdom. God is reminding us that we are in charge of making sure the world meets Jesus flowing out of us. We are not to think of ourselves as less than He created us to be. None of us is too small or unimportant or insignificant to do His work. Each one of us has something important to offer, something God wants us to deliver to this world. We do not have to be perfect to do that. God does not create junk. He knows we are imperfect, and He is o.k. with that.
God gave us several examples of people who were imperfect, whom He used in mighty ways because they were willing and believed. Abraham slept with a woman who was not his wife (Gen. 16), and God still made him the father of many nations. Moses was slow of speech (Ex. 4), and God brought Aaron alongside him to help him, and God used Moses to deliver a nation. David had Uriah murdered because of David’s own passion (2 Sam. 11). Yet, God made David a mighty king, used by God. God even called David a man after His own heart (Acts 13:22). The point is: don’t disqualify yourself from being God’s instrument because you see all of your imperfections.
God said we need to think differently. We blaspheme God in our thoughts when we think that we aren’t good enough, smart enough, talented enough, rich enough – in short, perfect enough – to be the gate through which the world comes to know Him. That is distrust! We must have faith and believe that we are equipped by God and able to accomplish whatever He asks us to accomplish. All we need to do is be willing, offer ourselves as His vessels, and be surrendered to Him. That’s it, and He will do the rest. God made us exactly the way He wants us, and we need to stop thinking that we can’t or that we don’t have what it takes. God has what it takes! We just need to offer ourselves to Him and agree with Him and see ourselves the way He sees us. If we do that, the gates of the church will fling wide open, and the lost and searching will have their hearts filled with the love of God, and they will come to Him in droves!
God wants to use each one of us right where we are, just exactly as we are – imperfections and all – for His purposes!
He will perfect us as we commit ourselves to trust Him and do His work!
