River City Church Washington
WE BELIEVE in one God – eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things. (Deut. 6:4; Isa. 43:10, 11; Matt. 28:19; Lk. 3:22).
WE BELIEVE in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ. He was the only begotten Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary. He led a sinless life and performed miracles. He was crucified, died and was buried. He was resurrected, ascended into Heaven, and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, and is true God and man. (Jn. 1:1, 14; Matt. 1:23; Lk. 1:31, 35; 1 Cor. 15:3; Il Cor. 5:21; I Cor. 15:4; Acts 1:9, 11; 2:33; Phil. 2:9-11).
WE BELIEVE the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and conduct. (Il Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Thess. 2:13).
WE BELIEVE in personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. (Jn. 3:13, 17; Rom. 10:9, 10; 1 Peter 1:19; Jn. 6:53-56).
WE BELIEVE in sanctification through the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit, and we believe in personal holiness, purity of heart, and life. (Ro. 12:1, 2; 1 Thess. 5:23; I Thess. 4:3, 4; Heb. 13:12).
WE BELIEVE in divine healing, through faith in the Name of Jesus Christ, and that healing is included in redemption. (Isa. 53:4, 5; Matt. 8:16, 17; 1 Peter 2:24; James 5:14-16).
WE BELIEVE in the baptism of the Holy Spirit, as distinct from the new birth; in speaking with tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4; Acts 10;44-46; Acts 19:6), in the gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor. 12:1, 8-10), the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22, 23), and that all of these are available to all believers.
WE BELIEVE that the ordinances given to the church are water baptism and the Lord’s Supper; that baptism by immersion and in the Name of the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost and by the Authority of the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, portrays the identification of the believer with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matt. 28:19; Mk. 16:16 Acts 8:38-39), that the Lord’s Supper is the partaking of the bread and cup by the believer as a continuing memorial of the broken body and shed blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41; Matt. 26:26-30; I Cor. 11:23-26).
WE BELIEVE in the Christian’s hope – the soon coming, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (I Thess. 4:16, 17; 1 Cor. 15:51, 52; Titus 2:13).
WE BELIEVE in world evangelism and winning the lost in accordance with the Christian commission. (Matt. 28:19, 20; Acts 1:8; Mk. 16:15, 16).
